Bressler Brings On Cannella as Counsel in Florham Park
Bressler, Amery & Ross hired Megan Cannella as a counsel in the private client practice in the Florham Park office. Cannella has experience drafting various estate planning instruments, including sophisticated wills, various trusts, durable powers of attorney and advanced directives for health care. She also advises families and individuals on retirement and business succession planning issues; and counsels executors, administrators and beneficiaries on estates and trusts. Cannella also assists clients in tax-efficient charitable giving and provides general representation to tax-exempt organizations. Prior to joining Bressler, she was an associate at Drinker Biddle in New Jersey. She received her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2012 and her B.A. from Rutgers University in 2008. Private client practice chair Frederick K. Schoenbrodt II said in a statement: "At this time of unsettled markets and a battered economy, our clients will be well served by Megan's exceptional experience and background handling a wide range of trusts and estates issues."
Fox Rothschild Announces Practice Leadership Changes
Fox Rothschild announced annual leadership transitions, which include two firm partners in New Jersey. Marie J. Jones in Atlantic City will now serve as co-chair of the gaming law practice group. And Robert A. Klausner of the Morristown office will now serve as co-chair of the real estate department.
Jones handles all aspects of gaming law and regulation, licensing and compliance, representing casino licensees, private equity firms, gaming equipment manufacturers and suppliers, investment banks, restaurants, and gaming- and non-gaming-related vendors that do business with casinos; and handling licensing and regulatory matters involving the New Jersey Casino Control Commission and other agencies. Jones previously was an attorney in the Atlantic City office of a Trenton-based law firm, focusing her practice in gaming regulatory matters. Before and during law school, she was a paralegal at Harrah's Atlantic City. She received her J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1994, and her B.A. from Glassboro State College in 1990. She is first vice president, and former treasurer of the International Masters of Gaming Law. She is a member of the New Jersey State, Atlantic County and Pennsylvania bar associations, and the International Association of Gaming Lawyers.
Klauser has more than 30 years of legal and business experience in the real estate industry. He handles: leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, joint venture structuring, financing and build-to-suit development. He has represented clients in connection with the leasing of more than 75 million square feet of space, the purchase and sale of more than $40 billion worth of properties, and the borrowing and lending for more than $25 billion worth of properties, the firm said. He spent several years working in the business side of real estate, acquiring and developing properties in urban areas. He started his career at Shearman & Sterling and was previously a partner at Day Pitney, Thacher Proffitt & Wood and Drinker Biddle & Reath. He earned his J.D. from George Washington University Law School (1985), his B.A. from Emory University (1982), and an LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law (1986). He is a member of the New Jersey State and New York State bar associations, and sits on the advisory board of the Rutgers Business School Center for Real Estate.
