The New Jersey State Bar Association deserves praise for successfully moving its entire annual meeting online in a little over two months. The convention in Atlantic City in May of each year is a staple of the bar, providing both continuing legal education and the opportunity for socializing with the bench and bar. It is a time for class reunions, insight from New Jersey's Supreme Court justices, lectures by celebrity guests, installation of officers, and informative symposia presented by federal and state judges and attorneys on topics ranging from civil, criminal and family law to practical tips on running a law firm.

This year, because of quarantining rules, the meeting moved online with alacrity and technical skill. Approximately 2,200 hundred attorneys, judges and legal professionals attended the virtual meeting, paying a reduced rate. And while networking in person with legal adversaries or old friends from law school in person was not possible, participants could still earn 16 CLE credits on substantive subjects, virtually tour the Exhibit Hall, and tune in to see Justice Rabner swear in the new NJSBA President Kimberly A. Yonta and bid farewell to outgoing president Evelyn Padin. Congratulations to NJSBA for making lemonade from lemons and having a successful annual meeting.
