The New Jersey judiciary on Wednesday released its next planned step for resuming court functions as the state continues to move past many coronavirus restrictions.

The Supreme Court approved the "Post-Pandemic Plan – Transition from Phase 1 to Phase 2," which details "how the New Jersey courts will safely begin to return to our court buildings in Phase 2, starting June 22, 2020."

Phase 2 is generally described in the report as: "Gradual and Limited Return – starting with 10-15% of judges and staff onsite; certain matters that cannot proceed remotely may be conducted onsite." Many proceedings, however, will remain remote, according to the report.

The plan was released concurrently with an order from the court requiring the use of "face masks or other face coverings" in courtrooms and common areas.
