Gov. Phil Murphy signed a truncated $32.7 billion fiscal year 2020-21 budget on Tuesday, a day ahead of the Sept. 30 deadline to come up with a balanced state budget to fund the next nine months.

His signature marks the end of months of wrangling with Republicans, which included a lawsuit resolved by the New Jersey Supreme Court on Aug. 12, over ways the governor planned to deal with revenue shortfalls brought on by the monthslong pandemic.
