For William Kaetz, the Paramus man charged with making threats against a federal judge in New Jersey, pro se litigation provided a platform to rail against gun laws, to label COVID-19 a "hoax" and to protest "fraud and treason" by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Kaetz, who has filed at least nine pro se lawsuits in recent years, also used his court pleadings to express his grievances against judges who he felt had wronged him.

Kaetz was charged Sunday with making an interstate communication containing a threat to injure a person and with threatening to assault and murder a federal judge. He has two cases pending in the District of New Jersey. Both are before U.S. District Judge Claire Cecchi. He has filed at least five pro se suits in the District of New Jersey since 2009, including three in which judges are defendants.
