Volkswagen Group of America is facing a court battle that illustrates the challenges of moving on after a diesel emissions scandal that nearly tore apart the company.

A group that owns several Volkswagen dealerships is suing the automaker over its refusal to approve the dealership group’s purchase of two more dealers. The plaintiff, Napleton Organization, and its principal claim that Volkswagen has portrayed them as lacking in “upstanding character” because the dealership was a plaintiff in diesel emissions litigation against Volkswagen.
