The Higher Education Committee of the New Jersey State Senate passed a resolution calling on Rutgers University to name a building on campus in honor of the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Justice Ginsburg taught at Rutgers Law School for nine years, from 1963 to 1972.

Sen. Nia Gill sponsored the resolution. She cited the justice’s fight for gender equality and pay equity, which began when she joined the academic faculty at Rutgers in 1963. According to Sen. Gill, “Justice Ginsburg paved the way to help ensure that a woman is defined and recognized by the value of her person, abilities, and power. It is befitting Rutgers University name a building after Justice Ginsburg as her memory serves as a revolution that will inspire many generations to come.”
