A Middlesex County Superior Court judge who faced serious backlash over controversial comments she made from the bench regarding a 12-year-old rape victim's level of injury won't be renominated by Gov. Phil Murphy.

Judge Marcia Silva, who was first nominated to the bench by former Republican Gov. Chris Christie, will be out in about two months, confirmed Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Nicholas Scutari, D-Union, whose panel oversees all state judicial nominations.

Scutari said his staff was informed Tuesday by the Governor's Office that Silva, whose seven-year term expires in mid-January, would not be renominated for another term.
