A judge in Ocean County, New Jersey, has awarded $5 million in a wrongful death suit stemming from a brutal 2015 murder on Long Beach Island.

Superior Court Judge Mark Troncone of Ocean County Superior Court entered the judgment against Conrad Sipa on Nov. 19. The judgment followed Sipa’s conviction in the murder of retired New York City firefighter Richard Doody Jr., whose body was found wrapped in a blanket at his vacation home in the town of Barnegat Light.
