Although U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died three months ago, her legacy continues to resonate in the legal community, particularly with women attorneys. The New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) will explore that legacy and the role of women in the legal profession on Jan. 13, at its virtual women's leadership conference titled "I Dissent: Celebrating the Legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the Power of Speaking Up."

Presented by the NJSBA Women in the Profession Section and Diversity Committee, the conference is packed with insightful and informative sessions. One session will explore Ginsburg's influence on women's rights during her tenure as a practicing attorney, professor at Rutgers Law School and justice on the Supreme Court bench. Speakers include Seton Hall Law School Dean Kathleen Boozang; Rutgers University Law School Vice Dean Rose Cuison-Villazor; Rachel Wainer Apter, director of the New Jersey attorney general's Division of Civil Rights; Jeanne Fox, co-founder of the Center for Renewables Integration Inc. and Dalya Youssef, president of the New Jersey Muslim Lawyer's Association.

In another session, New Jersey's current and former female Supreme Court justices will discuss how they learned to speak up, how they tackle a dissent, and why it is important the voices of women and others who are marginalized are heard in the justice system.

Additionally, a workshop will focus on the power of speaking up and provide practical leadership techniques.
