The New Jersey State Bar Association's (NJSBA) recently launched Leadership Skills Series continues on Jan. 14, with "A Seat at the Table—Serving on a Board," which teaches lawyers how to volunteer their services and boost their careers by helping a nonprofit serve its mission.

Attendees will learn what it takes to join a board and how it will help them be stronger advocates and better represent their clients by understanding the issues facing their community and how to help the world around them.

Speakers include Lori Hager, of Myers Wolin in Morristown; Katrina Homel, secretary of the NJSBA Young Lawyers Division; and William A. Krais, of Porzio Bromberg & Newman in Morristown. Collectively, they have served on nearly a dozen boards.

The program will be followed on Feb. 18, with "Beyond the Buzzwords: The Whys and the Whats of D&I and the Legal Profession," and conclude on March 9, with "Leading by Example in Trenton: Leaders in the Bar Lead New Jersey."

The series kicked off in October with lessons from the state and federal benches.
