DiFrancesco Firm Supports Operation Foodstock

DiFrancesco, Bateman, Coley, Yospin, Kunzman, Davis, Lehrer & Flaum in Warren supported Women United (part of United Way) in its efforts to combat a lack of food security resulting from quarantine-related job loss. This group addresses the needs of A.L.I.C.E (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed) families in particular. In a statement included with the announcement, the firm said: "We are holding a food drive in our office beginning this month, to occur once a quarter to support our county food banks. Our goal is to inspire other firms to join in the Women United effort to help this group of citizens who have always worked but have not been able to earn enough to have a safety net. One unexpected expense very often plummets this portion of the population into financial chaos. People who have never availed themselves of a food bank or any social services are now forced to seek assistance." Women United said in an accompanying statement: "Even before the pandemic hit, food security was a significant issue for ALICE … families and those in poverty. ALICE was already navigating life without a safety net and was one crisis away from financial despair. That crisis is here, bringing a continued increase in food insecurity while pantries experience shortages. During the summer months, Women United took action, collecting needed items for local food pantries. Due to the success of this summer initiative and the ongoing need, Women United has adopted food insecurity as its year long mission. Foodstock with Women United will help ensure ALICE and poverty-level households have enough food to get through the day. Our goal is to support food pantries in the communities we serve: Morris, Somerset, Sussex, and Warren counties, as well as portions of suburban Essex County (including the Caldwells, Cedar Grove, Essex Fells, Fairfield, Glen Ridge, Livingston, Millburn-Short Hills, Montclair, Roseland, and Verona). Please join us as we help ALICE households and those in poverty. It's safe. It's simple. It's fun."
