A Newark, New Jersey, federal judge granted final approval Tuesday to a $92 million settlement of a nationwide class action suit over alleged timing chain failures in BMW vehicles.

The judge will decide the amount of legal fees to be awarded at a later date, with class counsel agreeing not to seek more than $3.7 million, and defense lawyers saying they won’t contest any award at or below $1.5 million.
