Michael J. Locke, an associate at  Norris McLaughlin, recently presented two guest lectures for the "Business University" course offered by =Space, an office share space in Newark. "I enjoy having opportunities like this to enhance the skills and talents of entrepreneurs, help startup businesses define and attain their mission and goals, and watch these companies succeed and achieve new heights," said Locke in a statement. On Dec. 10, 2020, Locke presented "Business Continuation Agreements," addressing operating agreements, shareholders agreements, and other buy-sell agreements. On Dec. 15, 2020, he presented "Business Succession: Understanding Your Options," where he covered merger and acquisition transactions and other methods of business owner transitions. =Space offers resources, programs, and networking opportunities for startup companies. The "Business University" course was broken up into recorded presentations available to members for purchase. Locke in his practice focuses on providing counsel to small businesses in all phases of their corporate existence, and helps businesses that seek to bridge the gap between commercial success and environmental or social responsibility. He earned his J.D. in 2013 from Brooklyn Law School, and his B.A. in 2010 from Rutgers University.

Khaleel Receives Founder's Award from EFPC of Southern NJ Yasmeen S. Khaleel

Capehart Scatchard executive committee member Yasmeen S. Khaleel was presented with the 2020 "Founder's Award" by the Estate and Financial Planning Council of Southern New Jersey on Jan. 21, 2021. The award was presented during a virtual meeting of the organization. Khaleel is the past president of the organization. Established in 2001, the award is presented to an individual who has provided distinguished service to the estate and financial planning profession, the announcement noted. Khaleel, a Mount Laurel resident, concentrates her practice on the representation of individuals, business owners, medical, dental and other professionals in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, business succession planning, transactional and tax planning. She routinely handles matters of special needs planning including guardianship applications. She also is experienced in handling complex business and estate and trust litigation matters in conjunction with the litigation group at Capehart Scatchard. She is on the board of directors for the Animal Welfare Association, is a committee member of the Samaritan Hospice and Health Care Planned Giving Committee, and a committee member of the Indian Cultural Center—Asian Indian Professionals Scholarship Committee (formerly the Asian Indian Professionals Inc.).

Mignogna Appointed Chair of ACTEC Committee

Archer & Greiner partner Steven K. Mignogna was appointed chair of the Fiduciary Litigation Committee of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He will serve a one-year term beginning in March 2021. ACTEC Committee chairs traditionally serve for three consecutive terms. Mignogna is the New Jersey state chair of ACTEC and is active in ACTEC in several other areas, including the Professional Responsibility Committee, Program Committee, Joint Task Force of ACTEC and the National College of Probate Judges, and Advisory Committee to ACTEC's Mid-Atlantic Fellows Institute. ACTEC members are elected to the college by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment to the profession, competence and experience as trust and estate counselors, according to a statement by the group. At Archer, Mignogna chairs the estate and trust litigation practice group in Haddonfield. He focuses on commercial litigation, including probate matters, estates, fiduciaries, guardianships and real estate.
