Sills Cummis' Shumofsky Admitted to American College of Trial Lawyers
Sills Cummis & Gross partner Joseph B. Shumofsky became a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers on March 5, during the induction ceremony at the 2021 virtual spring meeting of the college. The meeting had a total attendance of 633, according to the firm, where Shumofsky practices in the itigation, business crimes, and corporate internal investigations practice groups in Newark, and chairs the firm's cyber security and data privacy practice. He previously was a federal prosecutor for nine years, serving in the U.S. attorney's offices in the District of New Jersey and in the Southern District of Florida, primarily in each office's Economic Crimes Unit. He is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law. Founded in 1950, the college includes fellows by invitation only. They must be recognized for their advocacy, professionalism and more, and must have a minimum of 15 years' trial experience. There are currently approximately 5,800 members in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.Hutcheon Elected Presiding Justice of Elks Lodge
Peter D. Hutcheon, of counsel to Norris McLaughlin in Bridgewater, was reappointed presiding justice at his local Clayton Elks Lodge 2132 for a fourth term. "I am quite proud of the work we have been able to accomplish, particularly helping children with special needs and veterans, and happy to continue to give back to those most in need," said Hutcheon in a statement. As an active community-based organization, the lodge's primary focus is to benefit children with special needs and veterans. Norris McLaughlin has sponsored its annual fundraising events and supported its monthly newsletter, The Horn. In his 46 years with Norris McLaughlin, Hutcheon has practiced primarily in business governance, commercial transactions, securities, banking, and finance. He is active with the American Bar Association, among numerous other organizations, and has authored articles on business-related law topics.
