While some lawyers have learned to live with the slowdown in New Jersey court proceedings during the pandemic, others are taking a hit in the pocketbook—or finding their reputation with clients tarnished.

Backlogs grew 264% overall in the Superior Court of New Jersey in the year after the state saw its first COVID-19 case. While many lawyers are inconvenienced by the slow-moving courts, some are impacted more than others.
