Even after George Floyd's murder last year sparked a wave of activism and soul-searching throughout the United States, 16 of the nation's largest law firms, nine of which are in the Am Law 200, do not have even one Black partner in their partnerships.

Despite having zero Black partners, many of these firms rank relatively high on The American Lawyer's 2021 Diversity Scorecard, underscoring the uneven effect of efforts across the industry to bring in more attorneys of color.

Black attorneys have long been the least represented minority group in the Diversity Scorecard, a trend the continued through 2020 where the amount of Black partners grew just 0.1%, from 2.1% to 2.2%.
