The U.S. Senate confirmed Zahid Quraishi to be a U.S. District Court judge on Thursday by a 81-16 vote, making him the first Muslim in the nation to serve as an Article III judge.

The vote makes Quraishi the second of President Joe Biden’s District Court nominees for New Jersey to win confirmation, following Tuesday’s vote confirming Julien Neals.
