A New Jersey judge has ordered Hillsborough Township to pay a developer’s legal fees and costs, after the town breached a court-approved settlement calling for construction of affordable housing.

Hillsborough is one of a handful of municipalities around the state to have received a fee award under such circumstances, said Josh Bauers, a staff attorney at the Fair Share Housing Center who participated in the Hillsborough case along with Adam Gordon, the group’s executive director.
