The family of a 52-year-old bicyclist who was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer has agreed to a $2.5 million settlement in their wrongful death suit, Estate of Gomes v Bozali, in federal court in Newark. A judge approved payment of the settlement on May 28.

Renato Gomes was riding his bike near the intersection of Adams and Thomas streets in Newark on July 10, 2018, when he was hit by a truck driven by Klidjam Bozali. The truck knocked Gomes to the ground, then ran over him, said the plaintiffs’ lawyer, Michael Gallardo of Ginarte, Gallardo, Gonzalez & Winograd in Newark.
