Sellinger was an assistant U.S. attorney in the District of New Jersey from 1984. He is co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig's Florham Park office and was a past co-chair of the firm's global litigation practice. He was a law clerk for U.S. District Judge Anne Thompson.
