A construction worker who fell 12 feet when a stairway collapsed at a new home construction site agreed to a $1.2 million settlement in his Ocean County suit, Spidaletto v. Dakan Homes, on Aug. 30.

Gregory Spidaletto, now 65, was descending a temporary staircase that had been erected on the outside of the home in Lavalette on May 24, 2018, when it collapsed. Spidaletto suffered a dislocation of his right shoulder and a fractured vertebrae at L4. Spidaletto required two surgeries and was left with significant scarring and other limitations, but was ultimately able to return to work, said his attorney, Norman Hobbie of Hobbie, Corrigan & DeCarlo in Eatontown.
