Fresh off a ruling at the U.S. Supreme Court allowing an eminent domain acquisition of state lands in New Jersey for the PennEast Pipeline, the project’s backers have halted the acquisition of land and placed the venture on hold.

PennEast and New Jersey “have agreed in principle to a stipulated voluntary dismissal” of 42 cases involving acquisition of state property for the pipeline, Deputy Attorney General Mark Collier said Monday in a letter to the clerk of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
