About a dozen attorneys from the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Immigration Law Section will soon be providing legal assistance to some of the nearly 11,000 Afghan evacuees who are being housed at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, also known as Fort Dix, in Burlington County.

Up to 4,000 more evacuees are expected to arrive this week, according to Jeffrey DeCristofaro, director of the Camden Center for Law and Social Justice, which is coordinating with the NJSBA section’s Afghan Evacuees Attorney Volunteers pro bono project.
