Generous insurance coverage obtained by parents of a man who allegedly drove after using heroin is the key to a $1.5 million settlement of suits over a crash that killed three people.

On Oct. 5, the parties filed a consent order with Passaic County Superior Court Judge Frank Covello that detailed the apportionment between families of those who died and two others who were injured in the crash.
