A man who sustained a traumatic brain injury in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike received payment of a $9 million settlement in his Middlesex County suit, Damiani v. Central Jersey Wrecking, in early September.

Ernest Damiani, a salesman for Johnson Controls who was on the way to visit a customer, was driving on the Turnpike on Aug. 2, 2018, when he pulled over onto the shoulder and was struck by another vehicle. While he was stopped, a Ford Excursion driven by Louis Pacheco for his employer, Central Jersey Wrecking of North Brunswick, experienced a blow-out of the left rear tire, causing that vehicle to go into a spin across several lanes of traffic and collide with Damiani’s vehicle.
