With the spread of the omicron variant contributing to a spike in COVID-19 cases, state and federal courts in New Jersey are curtailing in-person trials.

The U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey has suspended in-person proceedings in the Newark, Trenton and Camden courthouses through Jan. 31, 2022, under an order issued Wednesday. The court also announced that public counters at the clerk’s offices in the courthouses are closed to the public, although office staff are still available by phone, and a drop box is available for submission of documents or payment of checks.
