In Shinan Fan v. Judith Kern, a woman whose car was hit in a head-on collision, allegedly causing her to suffer a concussion and multiple spinal injuries that led to herniated disc surgery, settled her Essex County suit for $1.9 million on Nov. 29.
The case went to mediation last fall in the run-up to a January 2022 trial date, and it did not settle. But the parties continued the discussions after the mediation, and it settled late last year, according to a lawyer for plaintiff Shinan Fan.
