The New Jersey Supreme Court has disciplined a defense lawyer who routinely agreed to personal injury settlements without approval from the insurance company paying the claim, according to court documents.

Asher B. Chancey was issued a three-year suspension in a decision made public Thursday, based on his misconduct in 15 personal injury cases, most in New Jersey courts. The incidents occurred while he was with the Philadelphia office of Goldberg Segalla, which terminated his employment in May 2018, the Disciplinary Review Board said.
