The New Jersey Appellate Division has ruled that notice of a claim to a defendant’s insurer and settlement negotiations with that insurer are insufficient to toll the statute of limitations in a personal injury case.

On March 29, Appellate Division heard an interlocutory appeal on the “timeliness of a plaintiff’s complaint for personal injuries stemming from a motor vehicle accident on June 2, 2019,” according to court documents.
