The two necessary requisites for a properly functioning judicial system are competent judges and, in this case, sufficient competent judges. The need at this time is critical.

On April 26, during a meeting of the New Jersey Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, Judge Glenn Grant, acting administrative director of the courts, testified that to resolve the voluminous unheard cases in the system: “We need judges. But as of May 1st, we will reach a new historic high of 75 judicial vacancies, with 22 more currently anticipated by the end of 2022.”
