New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul jointly announced the nomination of attorney and former New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner Kris Kolluri to lead the Gateway Development Commission.

The GDC is a partnership between the two states and Amtrak, in partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and NJ Transit. According to a press release, the program is responsible for solving two critical infrastructure needs, the redevelopment of the Portal North Bridge and the construction of the Hudson Tunnel Project. The Hudson Tunnel project has qualified for federal grant funding and was allocated $100 million in the 2023 Biden administration’s budget request.
