The former operators of a Monmouth County motel have agreed to pay $900,000 to settle a suit by a man who was sexually assaulted by a motel employee while he was staying at the establishment at age 12.

According to the suit, the plaintiff was staying at the Travelodge Motel in Wall Township with his family in 2010, when front desk clerk Thomas Grisard sexually assaulted him numerous times. The plaintiff and Grisard sometimes gathered to play video games with the hotel owner, Sam Hou, and Hou’s son in Grisard’s apartment at the Travelodge, the suit said. At the time, Grisard was a registered sex offender in New Jersey, according to the suit.
