In a rare victory for a pro se litigant, a New Jersey appeals court has overturned a summary judgment ruling granting a law firm’s bid for $173,000 in legal fees.

The Appellate Division vacated McCarthy, Galfy & Marx’s judgment after finding that a trial judge failed to consider Stephen Lee’s assertion that he never consented to representation by the firm when it replaced his lawyer in a divorce case.
