The New Jersey Appellate Division upheld a grant of summary judgment in favor of former attorney Harris Legome and his firm after Allstate alleged extensive misrepresentation in violation of the New Jersey Fraud Prevention Act and sought return of $1.1 million in legal fees.

According to the appeals court’s July 26 per curiam opinion, Legome successfully represented 7,000 plaintiffs in personal injury matters between 2009 and 2013, according to the unpublished opinion. The Allstate appeal focused on 263 of those matters where the company paid attorney fees and costs to Legome for arbitrations before the National Arbitration Forum and Forthright, an administrator of the New Jersey no-fault PIP arbitration program.
