Caamaño Joins Capehart as Partner
Penelope Caamaño joined the workers' compensation departmetne of Capehart Scatchard as a partner in Mount Laurel. She has more than 25 years of workers' compensation law experience, and focuses her practice on the representation of employers, self-insured companies, and insurance carriers in workers' compensation defense matters, the announcement noted. Prior to joining Capehart Scatchard, Caamaño was in-house counsel for Travelers Insurance Co., where she handled the claims process while working on a variety of claims, including catastrophic cases. She was also previously a partner in the Bedminster office of Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby. She earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law and her B.A from Franklin and Marshall College. Caamaño is a member of the American Inns of Court, the Hispanic Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, and the Risk Management Society. She is admitted to practice law in New Jersey and New York. Capehart Scatchard has about 80 attorneys in offices in Mount Laurel, Hamilton, Philadelphia and New York.
AUSA Ryan O'Neill Rejoins Riker
Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Perretti welcomed back Ryan O'Neill, who returns to the firm as a partner after serving as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey, Criminal Division, since October 2018. O'Neill was previously an associate at Riker Danzig for four years before joining the U.S. Attorney's Office. She rejoins the firm's white collar criminal defense and investigations group in Morristown, where she'll focus on white-collar criminal defense, corporate and government investigations, state administrative proceedings and complex civil litigation. As an assistant U.S. attorney, O'Neill supervised complex criminal prosecutions and civil enforcement actions involving health-care fraud schemes; corporate misconduct; tax, civil, and regulatory offenses; and whistleblower actions. She most recently served in the office's Health Care Fraud Unit. Her prior positions included roles in the office's Opioids Abuse Prevention & Enforcement Unit and the Public Protection Unit. Firm co-chair Kelly S. Crawford said in a statement that O'Neill "is an exceptional attorney, appreciated for her keen problem-solving capabilities and ability to effectively counsel clients in complex actions. She was a rising star at the firm before she joined the U.S. Attorney's Office, and we all look forward to working with her again." Charles B. McKenna, co-chair of Riker Danzig's white collar criminal defense and investigations group and a former chief of the criminal division at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Newark, added: "Her strong background in this area provides significant value for our clients.
