The New Jersey Appellate Division denied relief to nine West Orange police officers who alleged the township violated state law when it placed the officers on unpaid leave pursuant to the township's COVID-19 vaccination and testing policy.

According to the Nov. 15 opinion, the officers filed their lawsuit against the township on Nov. 9, 2021, in Essex County Superior Court. The officers sought an order reinstating them or placing them on paid status with an award of back pay, according to the opinion. The trial court dismissed that complaint.
