Porzio Subsidiary Boosts Education Team
Porzio Compliance Services LLC, a subsidiary of Morristown law firm Porzio Bromberg & Newman, announced that Yasmin E. Hernández-Manno joined as director of education compliance. She is part of a team of educators who complement the work of the education law team at the Porzio law firm. She previously was executive county superintendent of schools in Mercer, Burlington, and Middlesex counties, and was the only Hispanic female serving in this capacity for the New Jersey Department of Education, according to the announcement. Hernández-Manno has focused on multilingual and multicultural learning, and has more than 30 years' experience as an educator, administrator and consultant, the firm said.
"Yasmin's depth of experience is only matched by her commitment and advocacy for equity and excellence for all students," said Vito Gagliardi, president of Porzio Compliance Services and managing partner of the law firm, in a statement. "Her extensive curriculum and program development knowledge and the vast network she has garnered will assist us in our service to schools, particularly those in more diverse communities." Hernández-Manno added: "Throughout my career, I have been a passionate educator and advocate for students in public, charter, and private special services school districts. I am excited to join the PorzioCS Education Team and provide clients with the best advice and guidance from years of practical world experience."
In November 2022, Hernández-Manno became president of the newly formed New Jersey Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents. Before joining the state Department of Education in 2014, she worked as an educator for 23 years in Newark public schools, where she was recognized for excellence in bilingual education and ESL. Hernández-Manno earned her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and her master's in urban education from Jersey City State University. Hernández-Manno holds certifications as school administrator, principal, supervisor, ESL teacher, bilingual/bicultural teacher, Spanish teacher, and K-8 elementary teacher, according to the announcement.
