Have you smoked marijuana or taken edibles lately? If you have, you probably didn't think twice about your actions since it's legal to buy and consume cannabis in New Jersey. Your former significant other, however, may be stewing about it if you're embroiled in custody litigation.

With the growing prevalence of cannabis consumption, the conversations regarding usage in the context of custody matters has, and continues, to increase. According to a Gallup poll last year, the percentage of U.S. adults who say they have tried marijuana is sitting at 49%, the highest measurement to date. Many parents find themselves asking questions regarding their personal use or questioning the practices of the other parent now that the household has fractured, and custody is an issue. Whereas parents could previously discuss or coordinate consumption, litigants in a custody matter no longer find themselves able to do so. Many would respond by saying "who cares?" since cannabis consumption is now legal in New Jersey, after all.
