The New Jersey Attorney General's Office issued a request for qualifications for law firms to potentially act as special counsel in venture capital and emerging business financing for the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and other state entities.

The Department of Law and Public Safety announced that the Division of Law issued the new RFQ, which will lead to a pool of qualified firms from which retention decisions will be made. According to a press release issued by the Attorney General's Office, the state frequently hires law firms as outside counsel to represent the state in litigation, bond and other legal matters.

The new online application tool for legal organizations is required as paper applications will no longer be accepted, according to the press release. Any questions pertaining to this RFQ can be directed to Gabriel I. Chacon, assistant attorney general for the Division of Law, at [email protected], with the subject line "Special Counsel for the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and other State Entities." The acceptance of questions will close on April 18 at 4 p.m.
