Jill Mayer, a confirmed nominee to the New Jersey Superior Court, recently joined Parker McCay rather than taking the bench because of a dispute over the pension she was due after serving 26 years with the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.

Mayer was both nominated and confirmed to serve as a Superior Court judge, according to her firm bio and a press release on her move to the firm. Mayer, who most recently served as acting prosecutor in Camden County from 2019 to 2021, spent the majority of her career with the Attorney General’s Office. The March 15 agenda of the Public Employees Retirement System board of trustees stated that Mayer appealed a decision that would deny her retirement if she serves on the Superior Court. The agenda stated that the decision was reconsidered and that the previous decision was affirmed. It further stated that Mayer was denied an Office of Administrative Law hearing and the OAL directed the drafting of a final administrative determination.
