A settlement agreement has been reached between the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights and Pine Valley Golf Club resolving a civil suit filed by the state's attorney general over the club's engagement in "unlawful public accommodation, employment and housing discrimination on the basis of sex."
The 108-year-old golf club, located in Camden County, prohibited female membership until April 2021, and "with extremely narrow exceptions" prevented women "from playing golf or otherwise accessing club facilities," according to the complaint filed last April. The settlement specified that the the club has agreed to end discriminatory employment practice, to end discriminatory housing practices, and to educate its employees about the requirements of the NJLAD. Since the DCR investigation began, the club lifted its policy restricting membership to men only.
