New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner presented the state of the judiciary before the New Jersey State Bar Association's annual meeting and convention Friday in Atlantic City on the state's judicial vacancy crisis and warned that, without more judges, more counties may soon join the six where all civil and matrimonial trials have been suspended.

Rabner stated that, at this time last year, out of 433 trial court positions, there were a record high number of 75 vacancies. Today, that number stands at 64. However, Rabner said the number of vacancies alone does not tell the whole story.
