A construction worker injured in a fall at a Perth Amboy construction site was awarded a $1 million jury verdict on April 4 in Middlesex County, coupled with a stipulated $400,000 in workers compensation medical expenses and benefits, resulting in a $1.4 million total recovery.

In Cruz-Izquierdo v. Harbortown Breeze, Julio Cesar Cruz-Izquierdo was working for Seashore Framing on a construction project building 1,700 apartment units. At 9:30 a.m. on March 29, 2018, Cruz-Izquierdo was installing floor joists on the second floor of an apartment while standing on an elevated platform that he and his crew built into the framing of the unit. That platform collapsed, and Cruz-Izquierdo fell six or seven feet to the ground below, said his counsel, John Ratkowitz of Ginarte, Gonzalez & Winograd in Newark .
