Eight of nine expected nominations to the Superior Court were unanimously confirmed on the Senate floor Tuesday. The missing nominee was a member of Gov. Phil Murphy’s cabinet, Banking and Insurance Commissioner Marlene Caride.

At its 12 p.m. meeting Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously voted in favor of two nominees to the Superior Court, Niki Arbittier and Caroline A. Oliveira. Arbittier will succeed Judge John Mathussen, who retired in January from his seat in hard-hit Vicinage 15 after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70. Oliveira will succeed Judge Michael E. Hubner in Vicinage 10, which covers Morris and Sussex counties.
