After a year of the New Jersey Supreme Court issuing exclusively unanimous opinions, the court has broken its streak with a pair of dissents issued in two criminal cases.

In a year that brought major change to the court, its members managed to come to complete consensus on all cases since July 5, 2022. The court’s unanimous run ended just shy of 13 months when it released three opinions on Aug. 2, two of which included dissents. Since then, five opinions have been released, one with a partially dissenting opinion.
