Verizon was hit with a toxic tort class action on Aug. 23 in New Jersey District Court. The suit was filed by Seeger Weiss and Dwoskin Wasdin on behalf of a class of utility workers who were allegedly exposed to health risks from the defendant's lead-sheathed cables. The suit comes on the heels of a July 2023 article in the Wall Street Journal describing the public health risks of toxic cables, which triggered securities class actions last week against Verizon and AT&T. Counsel have not yet appeared for the defendant. The case is 1:23-cv-08564, Bostard v. Verizon Communications Inc. et al.
