Professional CultureI have to admit that, of all our awards categories, I might like Mentors best of all. Because it celebrates an element of the legal profession that is more abstract than others, for which there's often no simple way to determine excellence other than hearing from the people whose lives and careers have been changed for the better because of the mentorship. Mentorship is not just about doing something nice for a colleague: it implicates real-world issues in the legal profession, namely succession planning and career development. Also, our Mentors honorees are always particularly kind in sharing their insights with us. I suppose that should come as no surprise, but we appreciate it nevertheless.
