The New Jersey Appellate Division reversed an Essex County Superior Court order that denied a juvenile defendant’s application to appear virtually, holding that it constituted an abuse of discretion.

The order was issued in State in the Interest of T.W. T.W. was charged with a juvenile delinquency complaint for offenses, which if committed by an adult, would constitute third-degree invasion of privacy and disorderly persons harassment, according to the opinion. That order compelled her to appear in person or be faced with the issuance of a bench warrant.
