New Jersey has joined the Federal Trade Commission and 16 other states in a suit against Amazon alleging that the company is a monopolist using a set of interlocking, anti-competitive strategies to maintain its power by preventing competition.

New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced Monday, in a press release, that a complaint has been filed against Amazon.com, in Federal Trade Commission v. Amazon.com, which accused the company of preventing its rivals and sellers from lowering prices, degrading quality for shoppers, overcharging sellers, stifling innovation, and preventing fair competition.
